A practical starting guide

How to use PMC Pilot

Choose a task, collect the project facts and save a working brief for your team. Start with one question, not the whole project.

Available now: local task preparation, completeness checks and Word/Excel exports. Hosted AI analysis, customer accounts and purchases are not open. The portal does not produce an approved engineering conclusion.

01

Choose the work you need

Open Project tasks, choose a work area, then choose the specific task. A work area groups related jobs; a task is one document or question. For example: Feasibility & Investment → Options paper and assumptions register.

02

Describe the project

Enter the project name, location and date. State what document or decision is needed and who will review it. Select the language of the exported document separately from the language of the website. Your typed text is not translated automatically.

03

Add facts and supporting sources

Complete the fields for the chosen task. Use the examples beside them where available. Mark uncertain information as unconfirmed. Add document titles, revisions, page numbers and relevant text excerpts. The optional file list stores names and file details only; the portal does not read, upload or preserve the original file contents.

04

Check completeness and save your work

Click Check completeness. The portal shows missing entries, not engineering approval. Download Word for a readable brief or Excel for the input register. You can edit these files and share them with a colleague. Keep a PMC Pilot backup if you want to reopen the fields and saved history on another device.

Example: which warehouse option should the team study?

The owner needs more storage space. The team is considering an extension, a new building and rented premises.

  1. Project: “North site warehouse”. Task: “Compare three options for the investment committee”.
  2. Enter capacity needs, known costs and demand evidence. Mark missing survey or cost data as unconfirmed.
  3. Record the owner’s brief and cost quotation, with dates and relevant excerpts.
  4. Check completeness and download the brief. A specialist can then review the assumptions and perform the comparison. The portal does not choose a winning option.

What each download contains

Word (.docx)

A brief assembled from your entries, task details and source excerpts.

Edit the text, review it with your team or send it to a specialist.

Excel (.xlsx)

A register of task inputs, sources and file references. The completeness check remains in the workspace.

Check and update records. It is not an automatically calculated investment model.

PMC Pilot backup

The task fields and saved history in the portal’s own file format. Original supporting files are not included.

Open through My saved tasks and backup copies → Open a saved PMC Pilot file.

When you return to your work

Entries are saved automatically in this browser when browser storage is available. They are not an online account or a cloud backup. Clearing browser data may remove them; download a backup before changing devices or clearing data.

Start another task

Creates a separate blank task of the same type. Your current task remains saved.

Continue a saved task

Choose a task from the list saved in this browser. A different browser or device has its own list.

Open a saved PMC Pilot file

Restores a previously downloaded backup as a separate task after you confirm its destination. It does not read a Word document, drawing or PDF.

Recover work from an earlier version

Looks for tasks saved by the earlier portal on this device and website address. New users can ignore it.

Delete current task

Removes the task and its local history after confirmation. Download a backup first if you need a copy.

Need a blank template?

Templates are separate from task preparation: standard Word or Excel forms with their own structure and filling guidance. Browse descriptions and available previews. Template sales are not open in this version.
