How to use this template

When you need it

Prepare the survey program before inspecting an existing asset, especially where records, access or operating conditions constrain coverage. Use it to align the client's decision question with a realistic investigation scope and competent resources.

What it helps you decide

It prevents a survey from becoming an unfocused collection of photographs. The team can decide which asset zones and questions need examination and understand which conclusions the proposed coverage cannot support.

How to complete it

  1. Define asset scope and survey objectives, review available drawings and operating restrictions, and identify element zones relevant to the decision the assessment must support.
  2. For each zone, state the survey question, proposed method, access requirement and specialist input, making coverage limitations and investigation constraints visible before mobilization.
  3. Agree deliverables and reporting limits, coordinate safe access and required permissions, and route the program for competent review before undertaking the planned field activities.

Who prepares and reviews it

The lead survey engineer develops the program with relevant structural, building-services or other specialists and the asset operator. Competent technical review and access authorization follow the actual asset and project arrangements.

A mistake to avoid

Do not promise a comprehensive assessment from a restricted visual visit; coverage and method limitations must align with the questions the report will answer.
