How to use this template

When you need it

Use this report when a project team needs a concise, regular account of an individual's completed work, next commitments, blockers, and availability to coordinate dependencies and resolve issues before they spread.

What it helps you decide

It makes individual contributions and constraints visible in a consistent format, helping the team lead distinguish completed outputs from effort spent and identify the specific decisions needed to protect near-term commitments.

How to complete it

  1. Complete Work completed this period using identifiable outputs and source records, distinguishing finished work from activities that progressed but remain incomplete or unverified.
  2. State Next-period commitments in terms of deliverable outcomes and realistic dependencies, then describe Issues and decisions needed with enough context for action.
  3. Record Availability and additional notes that materially affect commitments, and check consistency with the team programme and the status of shared work items.

Who prepares and reviews it

Each team member normally prepares their own report, checking facts with relevant task contributors. The team lead reviews dependencies and decisions, while resource managers address availability constraints within the project's actual working arrangements.

A mistake to avoid

Reporting hours spent as completed work can conceal unfinished outputs and give the team lead a misleading picture of readiness for dependent activities.

Illustrative example

Illustrative example: a structural engineer reports completed foundation calculations but identifies vendor anchor loads as missing. The next-period commitment is the coordinated foundation issue, conditional on that input. The team lead uses the report to prioritize the vendor response and adjust dependent drawing work transparently.
