How to use this template

When you need it

Use this checklist before a defined system moves from installation completion toward commissioning. Complete it against approved procedures and actual configuration, after the relevant installation, inspection and safety prerequisite records become available.

What it helps you decide

It provides a focused readiness review before functional activity starts. The responsible engineer can see which prerequisites are evidenced, which restrictions remain and what decisions require the authorized release route.

How to complete it

  1. Define readiness scope and system identity, then identify prerequisites from approved procedures, installation completion records and the applicable isolation, safety and specialist requirements.
  2. Record required evidence and its actual reference for each prerequisite, identifying open restrictions without assuming that a listed certificate or completed installation proves readiness.
  3. Review outstanding items with responsible specialists and record the authorized decision where applicable, retaining any conditions affecting the next activity and its approved procedure.

Who prepares and reviews it

The system or commissioning engineer coordinates installation, quality, operations and isolation personnel. Specialists verify their prerequisites; the designated authority records readiness or release decisions according to actual project procedures.

A mistake to avoid

Do not turn every empty evidence field into 'not applicable'; exclusions need a defensible basis related to the actual system and approved procedure.

Illustrative example: a ventilation system has completed installation inspections but still lacks verified control interlocks. The checklist records that open prerequisite and available evidence. The responsible engineer arranges the missing confirmation before the authorized party decides whether the planned commissioning step can proceed.
