As-built Drawing Register

Control as-built drawing identity, source redlines, revision, verification, status and dossier location.

How to use this template

This Excel template contains prepared working sheets and completion notes on a separate sheet. Enter your project data and review the completed workbook before use.

This editable workbook helps you organise project information. Check any included formulas, assumptions and results before use; it does not replace professional review.

The form prepares a separate brief; it does not fill the Word or Excel file.

How to use this template

When you need it

Use the as-built drawing register while field changes are being consolidated and throughout final drawing verification. Establish it before handover so installed-condition evidence and outstanding discrepancies are resolved systematically rather than through late file collection.

What it helps you decide

It links each final drawing to the evidence supporting its installed representation. The receiving team can determine which drawings are verified and which still depend on unresolved redlines or field confirmation.

How to complete it

  1. Define drawing scope from the drawing register and contractual requirements, identifying installed systems and the approved design revisions from which updates are being developed.
  2. Link source redlines and authorized field changes to the proposed as-built revision, recording verification evidence and any discrepancy that prevents a supported installed-condition statement.
  3. Reconcile outstanding discrepancies with field and design personnel, then update the final record and controlled references following the project's actual verification and issue process.

Who prepares and reviews it

The document controller maintains identifiers with construction engineers and designers supplying change evidence. Responsible discipline personnel verify installed information; final acceptance follows the contract and project's defined handover responsibilities.

A mistake to avoid

Do not relabel an approved design drawing as as-built without checking field changes; approval for construction does not establish the final installed configuration.

Illustrative example

Illustrative example: a drainage route was adjusted around an obstruction during construction. The register links the affected drawing to verified survey information and the change record. The responsible reviewer checks that the final revision reflects the installation before it is included in the handover dossier.
